| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The 26-year-old singer captured the hearts of the |

| 6 | 6 | | judges and the viewing public with her powerhouse vocals, which |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | shined in her renditions of such hits as "The Scientist" and "Mad |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | World"; her audition, which aired in March, went on to be one of |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | the program's most-watched videos, with close to five million |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | views; she continued honing her craft over the course of the |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | competition while working with her coach, R&B superstar John |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Legend, and prevailed against runner-up Gyth Rigdon in the season |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | finale, when she brought the house down by singing a live duet |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | with musician Sarah McLachlan; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Ms. Jarmon has faced adversity on her journey to |

| 16 | 16 | | fame; during her childhood, a treatment for recurring ear |

| 17 | 17 | | infections left her deaf in one ear and with impaired hearing in |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | the other; she refused to let this setback prevent her from |

| 19 | 19 | | pursuing her dreams, and she immersed herself in singing and |

| 20 | 20 | | musical theater as a teenager; at age 17, she moved to New York |

| 21 | 21 | | City to try her skills on Broadway, and after several years on |

| 22 | 22 | | that scene, she decided to focus on creating original music; now |

| 23 | 23 | | with her trophy from The Voice in hand, she looks forward to |
