1	1	SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 843
2	2	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes great pride
3	3	in recognizing Patsy Spaw, our much-beloved and highly regarded
4	4	secretary of the Senate, for her 50 years of outstanding service
5	5	to this chamber; and
6	6	WHEREAS, Patsy Spaw began her distinguished career with
7	7	the Texas Senate in 1969, when she joined the Engrossing and
8	8	Enrolling Department as a typist; she was promoted to assistant
9	9	enrolling clerk in 1972, and in 1977, she was elected to the
10	10	position of enrolling clerk; and
11	11	WHEREAS, During her 24 years as head of the Engrossing and
12	12	Enrolling Department, Patsy set high standards for excellence in
13	13	managerial and administrative efficiency, and she became known
14	14	throughout the Capitol for her exceptional work ethic and her
15	15	meticulous attention to detail; Patsy handled her numerous
16	16	responsibilities with admirable skill while also attending law
17	17	school and earning a degree from The University of Texas School
18	18	of Law; her unwavering fortitude during those challenging years
19	19	served as an enduring example and a source of inspiration to her
20	20	staff and to others at the Capitol; and
21	21	WHEREAS, In 2001, Patsy was elected to the position of
22	22	secretary of the Senate, and over the last 18 years, she has
23	23	brought great distinction to the Senate's highest administrative
24	24	office; her exemplary leadership and her thorough knowledge of
25	25	the intricacies of Capitol proceedings have made her an
26	26	invaluable asset to the Senate and to the Office of the
27	27	Lieutenant Governor; and
28	28	WHEREAS, In her half century of Senate service, Patsy has
29	29	excelled in every facet of her work, and she has been a trusted
30	30	friend and mentor to innumerable Senate employees, as well as to
31	31	the state's legislative leaders; she is treasured by all who
32	32	serve in the Capitol, and she is an inspiring role model for
33	33	anyone in public service; now, therefore, be it
34	34	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th
35	35	Legislature, hereby honor Patsy Spaw for her steadfast loyalty and
36	36	dedication to the Texas Senate and extend to her the utmost
37	37	gratitude for her 50 years of superior service; and, be it further
38	38	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her
39	39	as an expression of warmest appreciation from the Texas Senate.
