| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, Proud members of the Republican Women of Wood |

| 3 | 3 | | County are marking the 20th anniversary of their organization's |

| 4 | 4 | | founding in 2019; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, On May 6, 1999, 10 women from the county met in the |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | Mineola home of Margaret Hoke to form the group; they duly |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | applied for membership in the Texas Federation of Republican |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | Women; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The organization received acceptance from the |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | TFRW and held a meeting at LaSalle Restaurant on July 8; at this |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | gathering, the members welcomed eight more women into the club, |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | and they began planning their first fund-raising event, a vintage |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | fashion show and luncheon held in October; the following year, |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | the group launched its Taste of East Texas fund-raiser, which has |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | become a highly popular annual event; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Over the years, the Republican Women of Wood |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | County has benefited from the dedicated leadership of a number of |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | able presidents, and this tradition continues today under the |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | guidance of current president Sharon Bradford of Alba; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Republican Women of Wood County |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | have worked tirelessly for two decades to advance the important |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | goals of the Republican Party, and it is truly a pleasure to |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | recognize them for their contributions; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Legislature, hereby commemorate the 20th anniversary of the |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | founding of the Republican Women of Wood County and extend to its |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | members sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | prepared for the organization as an expression of high regard by |
|---|
