| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, Mateo Simpson has been named the 2019 Laredo |

| 3 | 3 | | Sector Youth of the Year by the United States Border Patrol; and |
|---|
| 4 | 4 | | WHEREAS, A senior at United High School, Mr. Simpson has |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | maintained a grade point average of 4.31 and is graduating in the |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | top 10 percent of his class; during his high school career, he has |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | been an active member of the National Honor Society, the youth |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | group at St. Patrick Church, and the National Piano Guild, and he |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | has competed with the football, basketball, track, and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | powerlifting teams; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, This talented young Texan has benefited his |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | community through service in a number of organizations, |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | including the Health Occupations Students of America, Catholic |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Charities, and Relay for Life; he has earned the honor of gaining |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | acceptance to three United States service academies: the United |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | States Military Academy, Air Force Academy, and Naval Academy, |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | the latter of which he plans to attend this fall; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Through hard work and dedication in all his |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | endeavors, Mateo Simpson has built a strong foundation for |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | continued achievement, and he is indeed deserving of this most |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | recent accolade; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Legislature, hereby congratulate Mateo Simpson on his selection |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | as the 2019 Laredo Sector Border Patrol Youth of the Year and |

| 25 | 25 | | extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
