| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Family and friends were deeply saddened by the |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | passing of Lawton Edward Bennett of Texarkana on |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | November 29, 2018, at the age of 87; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Lawton Bennett was born in Wallace, Idaho, on |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | April 21, 1931, and grew up with the companionship of three |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | siblings, John, Lynn, and Jim; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, A proud veteran, he served his country as a member |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | of the United States Army; he received his Ph.D. from the |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | University of North Carolina, and he retired as a political |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | science professor at The University of Texas at Tyler; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Bennett was the father of Max and Allyson and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | the stepfather of Gordon and Charles; later in life, he had the |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | pleasure of watching his family grow to include grandchildren; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Although Lawton Bennett will be greatly missed, |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | he has left his loved ones with a wealth of memories that they |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | will forever treasure; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the life of Lawton Edward |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Bennett and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | to his son, Max Bennett; to his stepson, Gordon Carter; to his |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | brothers, John and Lynn Bennett; to his grandchildren; to his |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | nieces and nephews; and to his other relatives and friends; and, |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | be it further |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be |

| 29 | 29 | | prepared for his family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns |
