9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Section 21.451(d-1), Education Code, is amended | |
11 | 11 | to read as follows: | |
12 | 12 | (d-1) The training required by Subsection (d)(3): | |
13 | 13 | (1) must: | |
14 | 14 | (A) be provided: | |
15 | 15 | (i) on an annual basis, as part of a new | |
16 | 16 | employee orientation, to all new school district and | |
17 | 17 | open-enrollment charter school educators; and | |
18 | 18 | (ii) to existing school district and | |
19 | 19 | open-enrollment charter school educators on a schedule adopted by | |
20 | 20 | the agency by rule that requires an educator to be trained at least | |
21 | 21 | once every two years; and | |
22 | 22 | (B) use a best practice-based program | |
23 | 23 | recommended by the Health and Human Services Commission in | |
24 | 24 | coordination with the agency under Section 38.351; and | |
25 | 25 | (2) may include two or more listed topics together. | |
26 | 26 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
