| 9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Section 21.403(b), Education Code, is amended to | |
| 11 | 11 | read as follows: | |
| 12 | 12 | (b) For each year of work experience required for | |
| 13 | 13 | certification in a career or technological field, up to a maximum of | |
| 14 | 14 | 10 [two] years, [a] certified career or technology education | |
| 15 | 15 | teachers and persons issued a school district teaching permit | |
| 16 | 16 | under Section 21.055(d-1) are [teacher is] entitled to salary step | |
| 17 | 17 | credit as if the work experience were teaching experience. | |
| 18 | 18 | SECTION 2. This Act applies beginning with the 2021-2022 | |
| 19 | 19 | school year. | |
| 20 | 20 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | |
| 21 | 21 | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | |
| 22 | 22 | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | |
| 23 | 23 | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | |
| 24 | 24 | Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
