10 | 10 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
11 | 11 | SECTION 1. This Act shall be cited as the Honorable Ruth | |
12 | 12 | Jones McClendon Act. | |
13 | 13 | SECTION 2. Section 481.125, Health and Safety Code, is | |
14 | 14 | amended by adding Subsection (g) to read as follows: | |
15 | 15 | (g) It is an exception to the application of Subsections (a) | |
16 | 16 | and (b) that the person is an employee, volunteer, duly authorized | |
17 | 17 | agent, or participant in, or is otherwise involved in operating, a | |
18 | 18 | pilot program established under other law to prevent the spread of | |
19 | 19 | certain infectious and communicable diseases. | |
20 | 20 | SECTION 3. The change in law made by this Act applies only | |
21 | 21 | to an offense committed on or after the effective date of this Act. | |
22 | 22 | An offense committed before the effective date of this Act is | |
23 | 23 | governed by the law in effect when the offense was committed, and | |
24 | 24 | the former law is continued in effect for that purpose. For | |
25 | 25 | purposes of this section, an offense is committed before the | |
26 | 26 | effective date of this Act if any element of the offense occurs | |
27 | 27 | before the effective date. | |
28 | 28 | SECTION 4. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
