| 9 | 9 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 10 | 10 | | SECTION 1. Section 28.025(c-5), Education Code, is amended |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | to read as follows: |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | (c-5) A student may earn a performance acknowledgment on the |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | student's transcript by satisfying the requirements for that |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | acknowledgment adopted by the State Board of Education by rule. An |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | acknowledgment under this subsection may be earned: |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | (1) for outstanding performance: |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | (A) in a dual credit course; |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | (B) in bilingualism and biliteracy; |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | (C) on a college advanced placement test or |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | international baccalaureate examination; |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | (D) on an established, valid, reliable, and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | nationally norm-referenced preliminary college preparation |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | assessment instrument used to measure a student's progress toward |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | readiness for college and the workplace; or |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | (E) on an established, valid, reliable, and |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | nationally norm-referenced assessment instrument used by colleges |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | and universities as part of their undergraduate admissions process; |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | [or] |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | (2) for earning a state recognized or nationally or |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | internationally recognized business or industry certification or |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | license; or |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | (3) for completing 10 projects demonstrating |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | workforce readiness while enrolled at a campus that is a member of |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | the New Tech Network. |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | SECTION 2. This Act applies beginning with the 2021-2022 |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | school year. |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|---|
| 39 | 39 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|---|
| 40 | 40 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|---|
| 41 | 41 | | Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
