66 AN ACT
77 relating to a public school student earning a performance
88 acknowledgment on the student's transcript.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Section 28.025(c-5), Education Code, is amended
1111 to read as follows:
1212 (c-5) A student may earn a performance acknowledgment on the
1313 student's transcript by satisfying the requirements for that
1414 acknowledgment adopted by the State Board of Education by rule. An
1515 acknowledgment under this subsection may be earned:
1616 (1) for outstanding performance:
1717 (A) in a dual credit course;
1818 (B) in bilingualism and biliteracy;
1919 (C) on a college advanced placement test or
2020 international baccalaureate examination;
2121 (D) on an established, valid, reliable, and
2222 nationally norm-referenced preliminary college preparation
2323 assessment instrument used to measure a student's progress toward
2424 readiness for college and the workplace; or
2525 (E) on an established, valid, reliable, and
2626 nationally norm-referenced assessment instrument used by colleges
2727 and universities as part of their undergraduate admissions process;
2828 [or]
2929 (2) for earning a state recognized or nationally or
3030 internationally recognized business or industry certification or
3131 license; or
3232 (3) for completing 10 projects demonstrating
3333 workforce readiness while enrolled at a campus that is a member of
3434 the New Tech Network.
3535 SECTION 2. This Act applies beginning with the 2021-2022
3636 school year.
3737 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
3838 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
3939 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
4040 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
4141 Act takes effect September 1, 2021.
