9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Section 291.007, Local Government Code, is | |
11 | 11 | amended to read as follows: | |
12 | 12 | Sec. 291.007. NONBINDING REFERENDUM ON COUNTY PROPERTY | |
13 | 13 | MATTER IN CERTAIN COUNTIES. (a) This section applies only to a | |
14 | 14 | county with a population of: | |
15 | 15 | (1) less than 40,000; or | |
16 | 16 | (2) more than 300,000 and in which the most populous | |
17 | 17 | military base in this state is wholly or partly located. | |
18 | 18 | (b) The commissioners court of a county [with a population | |
19 | 19 | of less than 40,000] may order a nonbinding referendum in the county | |
20 | 20 | on any matter affecting county property. The referendum must be | |
21 | 21 | held on an authorized uniform election date as provided by Chapter | |
22 | 22 | 41, Election Code. | |
23 | 23 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
