 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 AN ACT
 relating to designating the second Monday of October as Indigenous
 Peoples' Day.
 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 SECTION 1.  Subchapter C, Chapter 662, Government Code, is
 amended by adding Section 662.085 to read as follows:
 Sec. 662.085.  INDIGENOUS PEOPLES' DAY. (a) The second
 Monday of October is Indigenous Peoples' Day in honor of the
 indigenous peoples of this state and their histories and cultures.
 (b)  Indigenous Peoples' Day shall be regularly observed by
 appropriate ceremonies, activities, and programs.
 SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2021.
