55 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
66 AN ACT
77 relating to the posting of certain information regarding programs
88 of study offered under a school district's career and technology
99 education program.
1010 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1111 SECTION 1. Subchapter F, Chapter 29, Education Code, is
1212 amended by adding Section 29.186 to read as follows:
1313 Sec. 29.186. POSTING OF INFORMATION ON PROGRAMS OF STUDY.
1414 (a) Using information provided under Subsection (b), a school
1515 district shall maintain on the district's Internet website the
1616 following information for each program of study offered under the
1717 district's career and technology education program:
1818 (1) labor market information relating to jobs to which
1919 the program of study is designed to lead, including:
2020 (A) the growth rate of those jobs;
2121 (B) the median annual salary for those jobs; and
2222 (C) any courses of study, degree requirements, or
2323 other educational requirements necessary to obtain those jobs; and
2424 (2) the industry-based certifications that may be
2525 obtained through the program of study.
2626 (b) The Texas Workforce Commission, with assistance from
2727 the agency, shall biennially produce and make available to each
2828 school district the labor market information described by
2929 Subsection (a)(1) for each program of study offered under a
3030 district's career and technology education program.
3131 (c) The commissioner may adopt rules as necessary to
3232 implement this section.
3333 SECTION 2. As soon as practicable after the effective date
3434 of this Act, each school district shall comply with the
3535 requirements under Section 29.186, Education Code, as added by this
3636 Act.
3737 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
3838 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
3939 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
4040 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
4141 Act takes effect September 1, 2021.
