55 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
66 AN ACT
77 relating to the requirements for a junior college district to
88 receive approval from the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board
99 to offer baccalaureate degree programs.
1010 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1111 SECTION 1. Section 130.307(b), Education Code, is amended
1212 to read as follows:
1313 (b) A public junior college may offer a baccalaureate degree
1414 program under this subchapter only if its junior college district[:
1515 [(1) had a taxable property valuation amount of not
1616 less than $6 billion in the preceding year; and
1717 [(2)] received a positive assessment of the overall
1818 financial health of the district as reported by the coordinating
1919 board.
2020 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2121 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2222 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
2323 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
2424 Act takes effect September 1, 2021.
