55 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
66 AN ACT
77 relating to reporting the number of incidents of bullying and
88 cyberbullying in a school district and open-enrollment charter
99 school through the Public Education Information Management System.
1010 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1111 SECTION 1. Section 48.009, Education Code, is amended by
1212 adding Subsection (b-4) to read as follows:
1313 (b-4) The commissioner by rule shall require each school
1414 district and open-enrollment charter school to annually report
1515 through the Public Education Information Management System the
1616 number of reported incidents of bullying that have occurred at each
1717 campus. The commissioner's rules shall require a district or
1818 school to specify the number of incidents of bullying that included
1919 cyberbullying.
2020 SECTION 2. This Act applies beginning with the 2021-2022
2121 school year.
2222 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2323 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2424 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
2525 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
2626 Act takes effect September 1, 2021.
