10 | 10 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
11 | 11 | SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 161, Health and Safety | |
12 | 12 | Code, is amended by adding Section 161.007065 to read as follows: | |
13 | 13 | Sec. 161.007065. COVID-19 EXPERT VACCINE ALLOCATION PANEL; | |
14 | 14 | PRIORITIZATION OF FIRST RESPONDERS. (a) The COVID-19 Expert Vaccine | |
15 | 15 | Allocation Panel convened to develop for the commissioner | |
16 | 16 | recommendations for the allocation of COVID-19 vaccines shall | |
17 | 17 | prioritize the allocation and distribution of vaccines for first | |
18 | 18 | responders, including: | |
19 | 19 | (1) peace officers, as defined by Article 2.12, Code | |
20 | 20 | of Criminal Procedure; | |
21 | 21 | (2) firefighters, including volunteer firefighters; | |
22 | 22 | and | |
23 | 23 | (3) emergency medical services personnel certified | |
24 | 24 | under Chapter 773. | |
25 | 25 | (b) This section expires January 1, 2023. | |
26 | 26 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | |
27 | 27 | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | |
28 | 28 | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | |
29 | 29 | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | |
30 | 30 | Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
