1010 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1111 SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 161, Health and Safety
1212 Code, is amended by adding Section 161.007065 to read as follows:
1313 Sec. 161.007065. COVID-19 EXPERT VACCINE ALLOCATION PANEL;
1414 PRIORITIZATION OF FIRST RESPONDERS. (a) The COVID-19 Expert Vaccine
1515 Allocation Panel convened to develop for the commissioner
1616 recommendations for the allocation of COVID-19 vaccines shall
1717 prioritize the allocation and distribution of vaccines for first
1818 responders, including:
1919 (1) peace officers, as defined by Article 2.12, Code
2020 of Criminal Procedure;
2121 (2) firefighters, including volunteer firefighters;
2222 and
2323 (3) emergency medical services personnel certified
2424 under Chapter 773.
2525 (b) This section expires January 1, 2023.
2626 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2727 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2828 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
2929 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
3030 Act takes effect September 1, 2021.
