9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Section 318.021, Local Government Code, is | |
11 | 11 | amended to read as follows: | |
12 | 12 | Sec. 318.021. APPROPRIATIONS TO HISTORICAL FOUNDATIONS[: | |
13 | 13 | CERTAIN COUNTIES]. The commissioners court of a county [with a | |
14 | 14 | population of 239,000 to 825,000] may appropriate money from the | |
15 | 15 | general fund of the county to a historical foundation or | |
16 | 16 | organization in the county for the purpose of purchasing, | |
17 | 17 | constructing, restoring, preserving, maintaining, or | |
18 | 18 | reconstructing historical landmarks, buildings, and furnishings | |
19 | 19 | that are of historical significance to the county. The foundation | |
20 | 20 | or organization must be incorporated under the law of this state as | |
21 | 21 | a nonprofit corporation. | |
22 | 22 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | |
23 | 23 | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | |
24 | 24 | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | |
25 | 25 | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | |
26 | 26 | Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
