| 9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Subchapter Z, Chapter 33, Education Code, is | |
| 11 | 11 | amended by adding Section 33.910 to read as follows: | |
| 12 | 12 | Sec. 33.910. EMPLOYMENT OF REGISTERED NURSES. A school | |
| 13 | 13 | district or open-enrollment charter school shall: | |
| 14 | 14 | (1) employ at least one full-time registered nurse at | |
| 15 | 15 | each campus of the district or school; and | |
| 16 | 16 | (2) maintain an average ratio of not less than one | |
| 17 | 17 | full-time registered nurse for every 750 students enrolled at the | |
| 18 | 18 | district or school. | |
| 19 | 19 | SECTION 2. This Act applies beginning with the 2021-2022 | |
| 20 | 20 | school year. | |
| 21 | 21 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
