66 AN ACT
77 relating to daylight saving time.
88 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
99 SECTION 1. Section 312.016, Government Code, is amended by
1010 adding Subsection (d) to read as follows:
1111 (d) This state, acting as authorized under federal law,
1212 shall observe daylight saving time year-round. This subsection
1313 applies to both the portion of this state using central standard
1414 time as the official standard time and the portion of this state
1515 using mountain standard time as the official standard time.
1616 SECTION 2. (a) Except as otherwise provided by this
1717 section, this Act takes effect September 1, 2021.
1818 (b) This Act takes effect only if the United States Congress
1919 enacts legislation that becomes law that authorizes the State of
2020 Texas to observe daylight saving time year-round. If the United
2121 States Congress does not enact legislation that becomes law
2222 described by this subsection, this Act has no effect.
