| 10 | 10 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 11 | 11 | SECTION 1. Section 122.032(a), Election Code, is amended to | |
| 12 | 12 | read as follows: | |
| 13 | 13 | (a) For a voting system or voting system equipment to be | |
| 14 | 14 | approved for use in elections, the voting system in which the | |
| 15 | 15 | equipment is designed to be used must: | |
| 16 | 16 | (1) comply with the standards prescribed by Subchapter | |
| 17 | 17 | A; and | |
| 18 | 18 | (2) have all components of the voting system, | |
| 19 | 19 | including all software and hardware, manufactured, stored, and held | |
| 20 | 20 | in the United States. | |
| 21 | 21 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | |
| 22 | 22 | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | |
| 23 | 23 | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | |
| 24 | 24 | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | |
| 25 | 25 | Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
