| 9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 2258, Government Code, is | |
| 11 | 11 | amended by adding Section 2258.0245 to read as follows: | |
| 12 | 12 | Sec. 2258.0245. RECORD INSPECTIONS BY CERTAIN COUNTIES. | |
| 13 | 13 | (a) This section applies only to a county with a population of | |
| 14 | 14 | 585,000 or more that is adjacent to a county with a population of 4 | |
| 15 | 15 | million or more. | |
| 16 | 16 | (b) A county may designate the county department or officer | |
| 17 | 17 | responsible for inspecting a record described by Section 2258.024 | |
| 18 | 18 | to ensure compliance with this subchapter. | |
| 19 | 19 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | |
| 20 | 20 | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | |
| 21 | 21 | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | |
| 22 | 22 | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | |
| 23 | 23 | Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
