7 | 7 | relating to the maximum total extended benefit amount payable to an | |
8 | 8 | individual under the unemployment compensation system. | |
9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Section 209.062, Labor Code, is amended to read | |
11 | 11 | as follows: | |
12 | 12 | Sec. 209.062. MAXIMUM TOTAL EXTENDED BENEFIT AMOUNT. The | |
13 | 13 | total extended benefit amount payable to an eligible individual for | |
14 | 14 | the individual's eligibility period is 60 [50] percent of the total | |
15 | 15 | amount of regular benefits that were payable to the individual | |
16 | 16 | under this subtitle in the individual's applicable benefit year. | |
17 | 17 | SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies only | |
18 | 18 | to a claim for extended unemployment compensation benefits that is | |
19 | 19 | filed with the Texas Workforce Commission on or after the effective | |
20 | 20 | date of this Act. A claim filed before that date is governed by the | |
21 | 21 | law in effect on the date that the claim was filed, and the former | |
22 | 22 | law is continued in effect for that purpose. | |
23 | 23 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | |
24 | 24 | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | |
25 | 25 | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | |
26 | 26 | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | |
27 | 27 | Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
