66 AN ACT
77 relating to the maximum total extended benefit amount payable to an
88 individual under the unemployment compensation system.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Section 209.062, Labor Code, is amended to read
1111 as follows:
1212 Sec. 209.062. MAXIMUM TOTAL EXTENDED BENEFIT AMOUNT. The
1313 total extended benefit amount payable to an eligible individual for
1414 the individual's eligibility period is 60 [50] percent of the total
1515 amount of regular benefits that were payable to the individual
1616 under this subtitle in the individual's applicable benefit year.
1717 SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies only
1818 to a claim for extended unemployment compensation benefits that is
1919 filed with the Texas Workforce Commission on or after the effective
2020 date of this Act. A claim filed before that date is governed by the
2121 law in effect on the date that the claim was filed, and the former
2222 law is continued in effect for that purpose.
2323 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2424 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2525 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
2626 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
2727 Act takes effect September 1, 2021.
