55 AN ACT
66 relating to the content and numbering of propositions on the
77 ballot.
88 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
99 SECTION 1. Section 52.095 (b), Election Code, is amended to
1010 read as follows:
11+ Sec. 52.095. PROPOSITIONS.
1112 (b) Each political subdivision's proposition on the ballot
1213 shall be assigned a unique number or letter on the ballot as
1314 follows:
14- (1) except as provided by Subdivision (3) [(2)], for
15+ (1) except as provided by Subdivision (2)(3), for
1516 each proposition on the ballot, the authority ordering the election
1617 shall assign a letter of the alphabet to the measure that
1718 corresponds to its order on the ballot;
1819 (2) if more than one political subdivision's
1920 proposition is to appear on the ballot, the authority shall assign a
2021 unique letter of the alphabet to each measure; and
21- (3) [(2)] for each proposition on the ballot to be
22- voted on statewide, the authority ordering the election shall
23- assign a number to the measure that corresponds to its order on the

2525 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2626 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2727 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
2828 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
2929 Act takes effect September 1, 2021.
