| 9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Section 86.014(a), Election Code, is amended to | |
| 11 | 11 | read as follows: | |
| 12 | 12 | (a) A copy of an application for a ballot to be voted by mail | |
| 13 | 13 | is not available for public inspection, except to the voter seeking | |
| 14 | 14 | to verify that the information pertaining to the voter is accurate, | |
| 15 | 15 | until the first business day after the November uniform election | |
| 16 | 16 | date [day of the earliest occurring election for which the | |
| 17 | 17 | application is submitted]. | |
| 18 | 18 | SECTION 2. Section 87.121(f), Election Code, is amended to | |
| 19 | 19 | read as follows: | |
| 20 | 20 | (f) Information on the roster for a person to whom an early | |
| 21 | 21 | voting mail ballot has been sent is not available for public | |
| 22 | 22 | inspection, except to the voter seeking to verify that the | |
| 23 | 23 | information pertaining to the voter is accurate, until the first | |
| 24 | 24 | business day after the November uniform election date [day]. | |
| 25 | 25 | SECTION 3. The changes in law made by this Act apply only to | |
| 26 | 26 | an application for a ballot to be voted by mail submitted on or | |
| 27 | 27 | after the effective date of this Act. | |
| 28 | 28 | SECTION 4. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
