| 7 | 7 | | relating to the methods to achieve a college, career, or military |

| 8 | 8 | | outcomes bonus under the Foundation School Program. |

| 9 | 9 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 10 | 10 | | SECTION 1. Section 48.110(f), Education Code, is amended to |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | read as follows: |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | (f) For purposes of this section, an annual graduate |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | demonstrates: |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | (1) college readiness if the annual graduate: |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | (A) achieves college readiness standards used |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | for accountability purposes under Chapter 39 on the ACT, the SAT, or |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | an assessment instrument designated by the Texas Higher Education |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Coordinating Board under Section 51.334; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | (B) during a time period established by |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | commissioner rule, enrolls at a postsecondary educational |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | institution; |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | (2) career readiness if the annual graduate, during a |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | time period established by commissioner rule: |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | (A) enrolls in a technical or vocational |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | education program [achieves college readiness standards used for |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | accountability purposes under Chapter 39 on the ACT, the SAT, or an |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | assessment instrument designated by the Texas Higher Education |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Coordinating Board under Section 51.334]; and |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | (B) [during a time period established by |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | commissioner rule,] earns an industry-accepted certificate; and |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | (3) military readiness if the annual graduate: |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | (A) achieves a passing score set by the |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | applicable military branch on the Armed Services Vocational |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | Aptitude Battery; and |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | (B) during a time period established by |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | commissioner rule, enlists in the armed forces of the United |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | States. |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | SECTION 2. This Act applies beginning with the 2021-2022 |
|---|
| 39 | 39 | | school year. |
|---|
| 40 | 40 | | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|---|
| 41 | 41 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|---|
| 42 | 42 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|---|
| 43 | 43 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|---|
| 44 | 44 | | Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
