10 | 10 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
11 | 11 | SECTION 1. Section 251.001(16), Election Code, is amended | |
12 | 12 | to read as follows: | |
13 | 13 | (16) "Political advertising" means a communication | |
14 | 14 | supporting or opposing a candidate for nomination or election to a | |
15 | 15 | public office or office of a political party, a political party, a | |
16 | 16 | public officer, or a measure that: | |
17 | 17 | (A) in return for consideration [,] is: | |
18 | 18 | (i) published in a newspaper, magazine, or | |
19 | 19 | other periodical; [or is] | |
20 | 20 | (ii) broadcast by radio or television; or | |
21 | 21 | (iii) distributed by e-mail or text | |
22 | 22 | message; or | |
23 | 23 | (B) appears: | |
24 | 24 | (i) in a pamphlet, circular, flier, | |
25 | 25 | billboard or other sign, bumper sticker, or similar form of written | |
26 | 26 | communication; or | |
27 | 27 | (ii) on an Internet website. | |
28 | 28 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
