| 10 | 10 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 11 | 11 | SECTION 1. Subchapter D, Chapter 392, Local Government | |
| 12 | 12 | Code, is amended by adding Section 392.068 to read as follows: | |
| 13 | 13 | Sec. 392.068. PLAN FOR PROVISION OF NECESSITIES IN | |
| 14 | 14 | EMERGENCY. (a) For each housing facility operated by a housing | |
| 15 | 15 | authority in which at least 50 percent of the residents are elderly | |
| 16 | 16 | or disabled individuals, the authority shall coordinate with a | |
| 17 | 17 | local food bank to develop a plan for the provision of food and | |
| 18 | 18 | water to the residents of the facility in the event of an emergency, | |
| 19 | 19 | including a severe weather event. | |
| 20 | 20 | (b) A plan developed under this section may include the | |
| 21 | 21 | storage of water and nonperishable food items at a housing facility | |
| 22 | 22 | described by Subsection (a). | |
| 23 | 23 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
