9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 434, Government Code, is | |
11 | 11 | amended by adding Section 434.027 to read as follows: | |
12 | 12 | Sec. 434.027. VETERANS SUICIDE PREVENTION PUBLIC AWARENESS | |
13 | 13 | CAMPAIGN. (a) The Texas Veterans Commission, in collaboration | |
14 | 14 | with the Health and Human Services Commission, shall develop and | |
15 | 15 | implement a public awareness campaign to: | |
16 | 16 | (1) increase public awareness of suicide risk factors | |
17 | 17 | for veterans, including risk factors specific to women veterans; | |
18 | 18 | and | |
19 | 19 | (2) provide information relating to, and increase | |
20 | 20 | awareness of, suicide prevention services and organizations | |
21 | 21 | available to veterans, including services and organizations that | |
22 | 22 | address the needs of women veterans. | |
23 | 23 | (b) In implementing the campaign, the Texas Veterans | |
24 | 24 | Commission may engage in online advocacy, issue public service | |
25 | 25 | announcements, and distribute materials that cover the topics | |
26 | 26 | described by Subsection (a). | |
27 | 27 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
