A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to a limitation on the amount of a fee charged by a public
institution of higher education for the issuance of an official
transcript.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Subchapter E, Chapter 54, Education Code, is
amended by adding Section 54.5042 to read as follows:
Sec. 54.5042. LIMITATION ON AMOUNT OF TRANSCRIPT FEE. The
governing board of an institution of higher education may not
charge a fee of more than $10 for the issuance of an official
transcript.
SECTION 2. This Act applies beginning with requests for an
official transcript submitted to a public institution of higher
education on or after the effective date of this Act.
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021.
