9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Section 157.021, Local Government Code, is | |
11 | 11 | amended by adding Subsection (c) to read as follows: | |
12 | 12 | (c) This section does not limit the authority of the | |
13 | 13 | commissioners court of a county to adopt or enforce a work period of | |
14 | 14 | up to 28 days for peace officers employed by the county in | |
15 | 15 | accordance with the federal Fair Labor Standards Act of 1938 (29 | |
16 | 16 | U.S.C. Section 207). | |
17 | 17 | SECTION 2. Section 157.022, Local Government Code, is | |
18 | 18 | amended by adding Subsection (d) to read as follows: | |
19 | 19 | (d) This section does not apply to a peace officer | |
20 | 20 | commissioned by a county that has adopted a work period of longer | |
21 | 21 | than seven days for those peace officers in accordance with the | |
22 | 22 | federal Fair Labor Standards Act of 1938 (29 U.S.C. Section 207). | |
23 | 23 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
