9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Section 28.002, Education Code, is amended by | |
11 | 11 | adding Subsection (c-7) to read as follows: | |
12 | 12 | (c-7) In adopting the essential knowledge and skills for the | |
13 | 13 | technology applications curriculum for kindergarten through grade | |
14 | 14 | 12, the State Board of Education shall adopt essential knowledge | |
15 | 15 | and skills that include coding for video games. | |
16 | 16 | SECTION 2. Not later than December 31, 2022, the State Board | |
17 | 17 | of Education shall review and revise, as needed, the essential | |
18 | 18 | knowledge and skills of the technology applications curriculum as | |
19 | 19 | required by Section 28.002(c-7), Education Code, as added by this | |
20 | 20 | Act. | |
21 | 21 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
