A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to certain products made by inmates of a correctional
facility.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 497, Government Code, is
amended by adding Section 497.0105 to read as follows:
Sec. 497.0105. PRODUCT STICKER. Any article or product
manufactured wholly or partly by a work program participant must
include a sticker or label with the following language in all
capital letters: THIS ITEM WAS MADE BY AN INMATE OF THE TEXAS
DEPARTMENT OF CRIMINAL JUSTICE.
SECTION 2. Subchapter C, Chapter 497, Government Code, is
amended by adding Section 497.065 to read as follows:
Sec. 497.065. PRODUCT STICKER. Any article or product
manufactured wholly or partly by a participant must include a
sticker or label with the following language in all capital
letters: THIS ITEM WAS MADE BY AN INMATE OF A CORRECTIONAL FACILITY.
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021.
