79 relating to continuing education programs for fire detection and
810 alarm device installation.
911 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1012 SECTION 1. Section 6002.159, Insurance Code, is amended by
1113 amending Subsection (b) and adding Subsection (c) to read as
1214 follows:
1315 (b) The commissioner may not adopt a rule that excludes or
1416 devalues a signed or otherwise substantially verifiable
1517 certificate of training that is:
1618 (1) applicable to the areas of work authorized by the
1719 relevant license; and
1820 (2) issued by a training program or school that is:
1921 (A) nationally recognized; or
2022 (B) authorized under the Occupations Code or
2123 Education Code.
2224 (c) The commissioner may not adopt a rule that requires more
2325 than eight hours of [Participation in the] continuing education for
2426 any license renewal period [programs is voluntary].
2527 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2628 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2729 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
2830 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
2931 Act takes effect September 1, 2021.
