A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to the reporting of broadband speeds by Internet service
providers to the governor's broadband development council.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Chapter 490H, Government Code, is amended by
adding Section 490H.0071 to read as follows:
Sec. 490H.0071. SPEED REPORTING. The council shall request
from each provider of broadband Internet access service in this
state a report on broadband speeds provided by the provider based on
a reasonable sample.
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021.
