| 10 | 10 | amended by adding Subsection (e) to read as follows: | |
| 11 | 11 | (e) Notwithstanding a procedure agreed to by the parties | |
| 12 | 12 | under this section, a police officers association may not be | |
| 13 | 13 | recognized as the association to represent a majority of the | |
| 14 | 14 | covered police officers unless a majority of covered officers | |
| 15 | 15 | voting at the election vote in favor of the recognition. | |
| 16 | 16 | SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies only | |
| 17 | 17 | to a certification election ordered under Section 142.053(a)(3), | |
| 18 | 18 | Local Government Code, on or after the effective date of this Act. | |
| 19 | 19 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
