10 | 10 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
11 | 11 | SECTION 1. The heading to Section 551.023, Government Code, | |
12 | 12 | is amended to read as follows: | |
13 | 13 | Sec. 551.023. RECORDING OR LIVESTREAMING OF MEETING BY | |
14 | 14 | PERSON IN ATTENDANCE. | |
15 | 15 | SECTION 2. Section 551.023(a), Government Code, is amended | |
16 | 16 | to read as follows: | |
17 | 17 | (a) A person in attendance at an open meeting of a | |
18 | 18 | governmental body may: | |
19 | 19 | (1) record all or any part of the [an open] meeting [of | |
20 | 20 | a governmental body] by means of a recorder, video camera, or other | |
21 | 21 | means of aural or visual reproduction; or | |
22 | 22 | (2) stream live video and audio of all or any part of | |
23 | 23 | the meeting on the Internet. | |
24 | 24 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | |
25 | 25 | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | |
26 | 26 | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | |
27 | 27 | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | |
28 | 28 | Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
