147 relating to the eligibility of certain events for funding under the
158 Major Events Reimbursement Program.
169 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1710 SECTION 1. Sections 478.0001(3) and (7), Government Code,
1811 as effective April 1, 2021, are amended to read as follows:
1912 (3) "Event" means any of the following and includes
2013 any activity related to or associated with the following:
2114 (A) the Academy of Country Music Awards;
2215 (B) the Amateur Athletic Union Junior Olympic
2316 Games;
2417 (C) the Breeders' Cup World Championships;
2518 (D) a game of the College Football Playoff or its
2619 successor;
2720 (E) an Elite Rodeo Association World
2821 Championship;
2922 (F) the [a] Formula One United States Grand Prix
3023 [automobile race];
31- (G) the largest event held each year at a sports
24+ (G) the Ladies Professional Golf Association

125- SECTION 2. To the extent of any conflict, this Act prevails
127+ SECTION 2. Section 478.0053, Government Code, is amended to
128+ read as follows:
129+ Sec. 478.0053. EXEMPTION FROM CERTAIN ELIGIBILITY
130+ REQUIREMENT FOR CERTAIN EVENTS [LARGE VENUES]. Section
131+ 478.0051(b)(1) does not apply to an event described by Section
132+ 478.0001(3)(H) or (BB) [478.0001(3)(G)]. If an endorsing
133+ municipality or endorsing county requests the office to make a
134+ determination under Section 478.0102 for an event described by
135+ Section 478.0001(3)(H) or (BB) [478.0001(3)(G)], the remaining
136+ provisions of this chapter apply to that event as if the event
137+ satisfied the eligibility requirements under Section
138+ 478.0051(b)(1).
139+ SECTION 3. To the extent of any conflict, this Act prevails
126140 over another Act of the 87th Legislature, Regular Session, 2021,
127141 relating to nonsubstantive additions to and corrections in enacted
128142 codes.
129- SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021.
