8 | 8 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
9 | 9 | SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 40, Human Resources Code, | |
10 | 10 | is amended by adding Section 40.05811 to read as follows: | |
11 | 11 | Sec. 40.05811. EVALUATION OF FAMILY-BASED SAFETY SERVICES. | |
12 | 12 | (a) The department shall evaluate family-based safety services | |
13 | 13 | programs to ensure that the services provided through the programs | |
14 | 14 | are designed to allow children to safely remain in their homes or to | |
15 | 15 | make it possible for children to return to their homes. The | |
16 | 16 | evaluation must examine the process by which the department | |
17 | 17 | develops intervention plans for families to ensure that | |
18 | 18 | intervention plans are designed to deliver the services that will | |
19 | 19 | provide children with a safe environment and reduce the risk of | |
20 | 20 | future abuse or neglect. | |
21 | 21 | (b) The commission shall make changes to family-based | |
22 | 22 | safety services programs based on the evaluation under Subsection | |
23 | 23 | (a). | |
24 | 24 | (c) The department shall evaluate family-based safety | |
25 | 25 | services programs under this section every five years. | |
26 | 26 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
