| 7 | 13 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 8 | 14 | | SECTION 1. Section 801.260, Occupations Code, is amended to |
|---|
| 9 | 15 | | read as follows: |
|---|
| 10 | 16 | | Sec. 801.260. REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM [LICENSE REQUIRED |
|---|
| 11 | 17 | | FOR] EQUINE DENTISTRY. A person may not perform equine dentistry or |
|---|
| 12 | 18 | | offer or attempt to act as an equine dental provider unless the |
|---|
| 13 | 19 | | person is: |
|---|
| 14 | 20 | | (1) a veterinarian who is active and in good standing; |
|---|
| 15 | 21 | | [or] |
|---|
| 16 | 22 | | (2) a licensed equine dental provider who is active |
|---|
| 17 | 23 | | and in good standing performing under the supervision of a |
|---|
| 18 | 24 | | veterinarian who is active and in good standing; or |
|---|
| 19 | 25 | | (3) a student of an equine dental provider |
|---|
| 20 | 26 | | certification program approved by the board who: |
|---|
| 21 | 27 | | (A) is completing the practical requirements of |
|---|
| 22 | 28 | | the certification program; and |
|---|
| 23 | 29 | | (B) performs equine dentistry under the direct |
|---|
| 24 | 30 | | supervision of a veterinarian who is active and in good standing. |

| 25 | 31 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
