10 | 10 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
11 | 11 | SECTION 1. (a) The Public Utility Commission of Texas shall | |
12 | 12 | conduct a study of the reasons for the failure of electricity | |
13 | 13 | providers to maintain adequate power generation, monitor | |
14 | 14 | conditions, and communicate with customers during the winter storm | |
15 | 15 | occurring in February of 2021. | |
16 | 16 | (b) In conducting the study, the Public Utility Commission | |
17 | 17 | of Texas shall consult with members of the public and groups that | |
18 | 18 | represent the interests of retail electric customers. The Public | |
19 | 19 | Utility Commission of Texas may also consult with other interested | |
20 | 20 | persons as needed to conduct the study. | |
21 | 21 | (c) Not later than September 1, 2022, the Public Utility | |
22 | 22 | Commission of Texas shall submit a report on the results of the | |
23 | 23 | study to the governor and the legislature. | |
24 | 24 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
