| 9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 10 | 10 | SECTION 1. From money appropriated to the Texas Historical | |
| 11 | 11 | Commission or made available from any other source for the state | |
| 12 | 12 | fiscal biennium ending August 31, 2023, the commission shall spend | |
| 13 | 13 | at least $50,000 each state fiscal year to repair or replace damaged | |
| 14 | 14 | historical markers and monuments placed at locations throughout | |
| 15 | 15 | this state in celebration of the 1936 Texas Centennial. The | |
| 16 | 16 | commission shall repair damaged markers using materials and styles | |
| 17 | 17 | that closely replicate the original materials and styles. For | |
| 18 | 18 | markers that must be completely reconstructed, the commission shall | |
| 19 | 19 | comply with the United States Department of the Interior standards | |
| 20 | 20 | for sites listed in the National Register of Historic Places. | |
| 21 | 21 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
