| 8 | 8 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 9 | 9 | | SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 531, Government Code, is |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | amended by adding Section 531.02221 to read as follows: |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Sec. 531.02221. WOMEN'S HEALTH ADVISORY COMMITTEE. (a) |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | The executive commissioner shall establish a women's health |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | advisory committee to provide recommendations to the commission on |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | women's health programs, including programs previously |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | consolidated by the commission. |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | (b) The executive commissioner shall appoint members to the |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | advisory committee and ensure that a majority of the members are |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | health care providers who: |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | (1) are participating in women's health programs of |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | various sizes; |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | (2) are located in separate geographic areas of this |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | state; and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | (3) have experience in operating women's health |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | programs. |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | (c) The executive commissioner may appoint a member not |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | described by Subsection (b) to the women's health advisory |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | committee who represents the women's health industry and is |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | knowledgeable on the best practices for women's health programs. |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | (d) Section 2110.008, Government Code, does not apply to the |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | advisory committee. |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | (e) The executive commissioner shall establish the women's |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | health advisory committee not later than October 15, 2021. This |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | subsection expires September 1, 2022. |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
