66 AN ACT
77 relating to contribution and expenditure statements filed by the
88 inaugural committee with the Texas Ethics Commission.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 401, Government Code, is
1111 amended by adding Section 401.0075 to read as follows:
1212 Sec. 401.0075. REQUIRED CONTRIBUTION AND EXPENDITURE
1313 STATEMENTS. (a) The committee shall file contribution and
1414 expenditure statements with the Texas Ethics Commission on:
1515 (1) the fifth day after the date that members of the
1616 committee are appointed;
1717 (2) the day before the first day of the regular session
1818 of the legislature that occurs in the year of the inauguration; and
1919 (3) the day that the committee files the final report
2020 required by Section 401.008.
2121 (b) A statement required by Subsection (a) must list the
2222 following information:
2323 (1) each unreported contribution of money, services,
2424 or other things of value to the committee, the name and address of
2525 the contributor, and the date and amount of the contribution;
2626 (2) each unreported loan made to the committee,
2727 including a loan listed in a previous filing that has not been paid
2828 or that was paid after the previous filing, the complete name and
2929 address of the lender and each person other than the committee who
3030 is responsible on the note, the date and amount of the note, the
3131 intended source of funds to repay the note, and any payments already
3232 made on the note and the source of the payments; and
3333 (3) each unreported expenditure of the committee, the
3434 complete name and address of each person to whom a payment of more
3535 than $10 was made, and the purpose of each expenditure.
3636 (c) Each statement filed under this section is public
3737 information and shall be preserved until the second anniversary of
3838 the date the statement was filed. Unless a court orders further
3939 preservation, a statement may be destroyed after the two-year
4040 period.
4141 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021.
