| 10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Subchapter F, Chapter 51, Education Code, is | |
| 11 | 11 | amended by adding Section 51.311 to read as follows: | |
| 12 | 12 | Sec. 51.311. AGRICULTURE. (a) In this section, | |
| 13 | 13 | "institution of higher education" has the meaning assigned by | |
| 14 | 14 | Section 61.003. | |
| 15 | 15 | (b) An institution of higher education may not award a | |
| 16 | 16 | baccalaureate degree to any person unless the person has credit for | |
| 17 | 17 | at least three semester credit hours or the equivalent in | |
| 18 | 18 | agriculture. | |
| 19 | 19 | SECTION 2. Section 51.311, Education Code, as added by this | |
| 20 | 20 | Act, applies only to a student who enrolls in a baccalaureate degree | |
| 21 | 21 | program at a public institution of higher education on or after | |
| 22 | 22 | January 1, 2022. | |
| 23 | 23 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
