| 9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Section 503.063, Transportation Code, is amended | |
| 11 | 11 | by adding Subsection (i) to read as follows: | |
| 12 | 12 | (i) A vehicle may be issued and display a buyer's tag | |
| 13 | 13 | without satisfying the inspection requirements of Chapter 548 if: | |
| 14 | 14 | (1) the buyer of the vehicle is not a resident of this | |
| 15 | 15 | state; and | |
| 16 | 16 | (2) the vehicle: | |
| 17 | 17 | (A) at the time of purchase, is not located or | |
| 18 | 18 | required to be titled or registered in this state; | |
| 19 | 19 | (B) will be titled and registered in accordance | |
| 20 | 20 | with the laws of the buyer's state of residence; and | |
| 21 | 21 | (C) will be inspected in accordance with the laws | |
| 22 | 22 | of the buyer's state of residence, if the laws of that state require | |
| 23 | 23 | inspection. | |
| 24 | 24 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | |
| 25 | 25 | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | |
| 26 | 26 | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | |
| 27 | 27 | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | |
| 28 | 28 | Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
