| 8 | 8 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 9 | 9 | SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 418, Government Code, is | |
| 10 | 10 | amended by adding Section 418.0556 to read as follows: | |
| 11 | 11 | Sec. 418.0556. DISASTER PREPAREDNESS EDUCATION. (a) The | |
| 12 | 12 | division shall develop disaster preparedness educational materials | |
| 13 | 13 | that include instructions for preparing a disaster kit containing | |
| 14 | 14 | supplies most needed in a disaster or emergency, such as water, | |
| 15 | 15 | nonperishable food, medical supplies, flashlights, and other | |
| 16 | 16 | essential items, to assist families and businesses in adequately | |
| 17 | 17 | preparing for hurricanes, floods, fires, freezing temperatures, | |
| 18 | 18 | drought, and other potential disasters. | |
| 19 | 19 | (b) The division shall post on the division's Internet | |
| 20 | 20 | website and distribute to local governments and businesses the | |
| 21 | 21 | educational materials and instructions developed under Subsection | |
| 22 | 22 | (a). | |
| 23 | 23 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
