411 AN ACT
512 relating to the provision of vocational training to inmates
613 confined in a Texas Department of Criminal Justice transfer
714 facility.
815 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
916 SECTION 1. Subchapter G, Chapter 499, Government Code, is
1017 amended by adding Section 499.156 to read as follows:
1118 Sec. 499.156. VOCATIONAL TRAINING. The department shall
1219 adopt a policy under which a representative of a public or private
1320 entity, including a public or private institution of higher
1421 education, may provide vocational training on a voluntary basis to
1522 inmates confined in a transfer facility authorized under this
1623 subchapter.
1724 SECTION 2. As soon as practicable after the effective date
1825 of this Act, the Texas Department of Criminal Justice shall adopt
1926 the policy required by Section 499.156, Government Code, as added
2027 by this Act.
2128 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021.
