66 AN ACT
77 relating to outreach campaigns conducted by the Department of State
88 Health Services during certain public health disasters.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 81, Health and Safety
1111 Code, is amended by adding Section 81.025 to read as follows:
1212 Sec. 81.025. OUTREACH CAMPAIGN DURING CERTAIN PUBLIC HEALTH
1313 DISASTERS. (a) In this section, "pandemic disease" means a
1414 communicable disease that spreads to a significant portion of the
1515 population of a country, multiple countries, or the world and that
1616 poses a substantial risk of a significant number of human
1717 fatalities, illnesses, or permanent long-term disabilities.
1818 (b) During a declared public health disaster for a pandemic
1919 disease, the department shall conduct an outreach campaign to
2020 disseminate information on:
2121 (1) the availability of viral testing, treatment, and
2222 vaccines to individuals who are uninsured; and
2323 (2) the accessibility of the testing, treatment, and
2424 vaccines to individuals regardless of their immigration status.
2525 (c) The department shall make the information described by
2626 Subsection (b) available on the department's Internet website.
2727 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021.
