9 | 9 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

10 | 10 | | SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 81, Health and Safety |
---|
11 | 11 | | Code, is amended by adding Section 81.025 to read as follows: |

12 | 12 | | Sec. 81.025. OUTREACH CAMPAIGN DURING CERTAIN PUBLIC HEALTH |
---|
13 | 13 | | DISASTERS. (a) In this section, "pandemic disease" means a |
---|
14 | 14 | | communicable disease that spreads to a significant portion of the |
---|
15 | 15 | | population of a country, multiple countries, or the world and that |
---|
16 | 16 | | poses a substantial risk of a significant number of human |
---|
17 | 17 | | fatalities, illnesses, or permanent long-term disabilities. |
---|
18 | 18 | | (b) During a declared public health disaster for a pandemic |
---|
19 | 19 | | disease, the department shall conduct an outreach campaign to |
---|
20 | 20 | | disseminate information on: |
---|
21 | 21 | | (1) the availability of viral testing, treatment, and |
---|
22 | 22 | | vaccines to individuals who are uninsured; and |
---|
23 | 23 | | (2) the accessibility of the testing, treatment, and |
---|
24 | 24 | | vaccines to individuals regardless of their immigration status. |
---|
25 | 25 | | (c) The department shall make the information described by |
---|
26 | 26 | | Subsection (b) available on the department's Internet website. |
---|
27 | 27 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
