9+ A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
410 AN ACT
511 relating to the appraisal for ad valorem tax purposes of
612 residential real property located in a designated historic
713 district.
814 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
915 SECTION 1. Section 23.013, Tax Code, is amended by adding
1016 Subsection (e) to read as follows:
1117 (e) In this subsection, "designated historic district"
1218 means an area that is zoned or otherwise designated as a historic
1319 district under municipal, state, or federal law. In determining
1420 the market value of residential real property located in a
1521 designated historic district, the chief appraiser shall consider
1622 the effect on the property's value of any restriction placed by the
1723 historic district on the property owner's ability to alter,
1824 improve, or repair the property.
1925 SECTION 2. This Act applies to the appraisal for ad valorem
2026 tax purposes of residential real property only for a tax year
2127 beginning on or after the effective date of this Act.
2228 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect January 1, 2022.
