| 10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Subchapter Z, Chapter 29, Education Code, is | |
| 11 | 11 | amended by adding Section 29.9061 to read as follows: | |
| 12 | 12 | Sec. 29.9061. SOCIAL AND EMOTIONAL LEARNING. (a) The State | |
| 13 | 13 | Board of Education shall adopt developmentally appropriate, | |
| 14 | 14 | evidence-based standards for social and emotional learning, | |
| 15 | 15 | including standards regarding: | |
| 16 | 16 | (1) the development of competency in self-management, | |
| 17 | 17 | self-awareness, and social awareness for students; and | |
| 18 | 18 | (2) responsible decision-making. | |
| 19 | 19 | (b) Each school district shall provide in appropriate | |
| 20 | 20 | educational programs in each grade level the social and emotional | |
| 21 | 21 | learning standards adopted under Subsection (a). | |
| 22 | 22 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
