94 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
105 AN ACT
116 relating to applicability of civil service status to emergency
127 medical services personnel in certain municipalities.
138 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
149 SECTION 1. Section 143.401(a), Local Government Code, is
1510 amended to read as follows:
1611 (a) This subchapter applies only to a municipality:
1712 (1) with a population of 460,000 or more that:
1813 (A) operates under a city manager form of
1914 government; or
2015 (B) operated under a city manager form of
2116 government at the time this subchapter was adopted in the
2217 municipality; and
2318 (2) that employs emergency medical services personnel
2419 in a municipal department other than the fire department.
2520 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2621 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2722 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
2823 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
2924 Act takes effect September 1, 2021.
