13 | 8 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

14 | 9 | | SECTION 1. Section 143.401(a), Local Government Code, is |
---|
15 | 10 | | amended to read as follows: |
---|
16 | 11 | | (a) This subchapter applies only to a municipality: |
---|
17 | 12 | | (1) with a population of 460,000 or more that: |
---|
18 | 13 | | (A) operates under a city manager form of |
---|
19 | 14 | | government; or |
---|
20 | 15 | | (B) operated under a city manager form of |
---|
21 | 16 | | government at the time this subchapter was adopted in the |
---|
22 | 17 | | municipality; and |
---|
23 | 18 | | (2) that employs emergency medical services personnel |
---|
24 | 19 | | in a municipal department other than the fire department. |
---|
25 | 20 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
---|
26 | 21 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
---|
27 | 22 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
---|
28 | 23 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
---|
29 | 24 | | Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
